| The DBS marked a revolution for Aston Martin: larger, lower, and wider, it consigned the aging DB6 to the dustbin of history and stood out with its angular styling, designed by Williams Towns. To complete this shift in direction, the car was to swap its inline-six for an all-new V8, still designed by Tadek Marek, but the engine was slow to reach production readiness. Ultimately, the DBS would be the Aston that marked the transition to the V8 era, but it would leave a double imprint on popular culture as the car driven by Brett Sinclair in 'The Persuaders' and by James Bond in 'On Her Majesty’s Secret Service'. Few cars can boast such an achievement! |
