The cultural—but above all, technical—revolution continues at Aston Martin. The launch of the DB9 in 2003 marked the debut of a new type of scalable, all-aluminum chassis. This so-called “VH” chassis would serve as the foundation for nearly the entire lineup for more than 20 years, notably for the small Aston Martin V8 Vantage launched in 2005. In 2007, it was the Vanquish’s turn to be replaced by the new DBS, nicknamed the DBS V12, to avoid as usual confusion with the original model. The DBS closely resembles the DB9’s design, but the modifications hit the mark. The changes to the fenders, the hood, and the trunk line give the car a much sleeker and sportier look. Compared to the previous Vanquish, the DBS is less muscular but more elegant. A clear media coup, the DBS V12 was chosen in advance (in 2006, before the model's release) to be 007's car in *Casino Royale*.
